Don't quit!
hang in there!

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow--
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out--
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

All geared up for MYE!
The reliability of the above statement is zero.

Anyway, (proper) MYE has already commenced with H1 Mathematics yesterday. I don't get it, why PJC decides to put yesterday as one of the exams dates when it is technically still our holidays? Apparently, this question of mine was amplified in today's Straits Times. One mother wrote in the forum and questioned why her daughter's college (JJC) has so many tests during the holidays and disables her from bringing her daughter on a family trip.

Guess what? She went to the dictionary and checked out the meaning of 'holiday' and went to the MOE's website to check out the school holiday schedule. True enough, holidays for JC students starts on 29 May and ends tomorrow. She was not convinced by the college's act since the school should, at all times, comply to MOE's guidelines. I love how she ends off with a powerful and strong statement, 'I urge all schools to give all families a break.'

Speaking of that, MYE is going away soon. That means that break is coming! Hang on guys, it's a battle that is our victory!

Reminder to myself:
28 Jun- H2 Econs P2
30 Jun- H2 CSE P1
1 Jun- H2 Geog P1 (My greatest worry!)
2 Jun- H2 Econs P1
6 Jun- H2 CSE P2
7 Jun- H2 Geog P2 (Another worry!)

Jiayou! :)

Happy Father's Day!
I really love you.

My 17th Birthday
(4 January 2009)

'If today was the last day with your father, what would you do?'
-Gary Wong

I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you.

'I love you' for 18 times represents the love for you for the past 18 years.

This evening was a rather thought-provoking dinner with my dear aunt as they headed down to Nanyang for chili crab. Well, just the two of us. You might be thinking? Aren't today Father's Day? Where's my father?

Ans: He's in Hong Kong on a vacation.

Unsurprisingly, the coffeeshop was flooded with people in large groups, most of them with their father. I was extremely amused and fascinated by just how different fathers look, interact and most importantly, where they stand in the family (based on observations). Some fathers are stern, authoritative. Some others, quiet.

What strikes me real hard was how different children interact with their fathers. More than often, they hardly talk. Some played with their phone (what my aunt dislikes about our generation). Some simply stone and wait for the dishes to be served.

It saddens me when such scenes appear before my eyes. The fact that I could not celebrate Father's Day with my father makes this day utterly meaningless. I really hoped that he could join me today and I would willingly spend all my allowances all for this meal. Too sad, he didn't. On the brighter note, everyday could be a Father's Day if we could show our love and concern to them, isn't it?

I came across two videos and thought it would be meaningful to post it today.

I want to dedicate this post to my dearest father.

Dear dad

I am not sure whether I have ever said those 3 special words to you. I guess not. Today is the day where everyone celebrates their day with their 'man'.

You, were my 'man'.
The 'man' who brought me up almost single-handedly for the past 18 years.
The 'man' who gives me whatever I want, whatever I desire.
You are also the 'man' who always cares for me.

Most importantly, the 'man' who is the Best Father to me!

For those that care for me,
I thank you!

Yien Jun's 18th Birthday
(14 June 2010)

I wonder how many people still faithfully follow this blog, whatever the case, I have decided to revive this blog and continue writing. I want to record every part of my life, to record the people that I am in contact with, and simply to look back at those moments I had with people that I love.

Last post was 24 January 2010. So many things have happened between now and then. Happiness and sorrow. Sometimes I guess life is like World Cup (since now is the World Cup fever), you never know what would happen and who would win.

I, may not be the Best family member of the household, Best friend, Best classmate, Best boyfriend, Best student and I realised that. Whatever the case, whether you like me or not, whether you know me or not, or whether you even see me before, I don't mind.

I just want to let the world know that I really love, care and appreciate all of you.

Please, don't just leave me like that.
